1. Poke a hole in the side of each can. Push the scissors through the hole and cut each can in half. Trim the top half of each can to 1-1/4 inch from the top rim.
2. Place the ruler against the side of one can top and slightly dent every inch around the edge. Fit the second can over the dented can lining up the drinking hole.
3. Trim the bottom of each can down to the center circle to create two buttons. Poke two holes in the center of each button.
Cut 12 inches of string. Thread the string through the holes in one button so both ends of the the string is on the concave side of the button. Fish the strings through both mouth holes in the cans. Push each string through the holes in the second button. Fit the button into the can top and tie the string close to secure. Tie the string ends a few inches away from the Christmas ornament to hang.
