SWEATER TOTE

Tools
2 Peanut cans
Exacto Knife
1 old long sleeved sweater
Seam ripper
Sewing machine
Matching thread

1. Cut the rim off two peanut cans. Trim any excess cardboard from the metal rim. Set aside. Save the bottom of the peanut can for tomorrow's craft project.

2. Cut the sleeves off an old long sleeved sweater. Using the seam ripper, open the seam of each sleeve. Usually knit fabric is sewn using a chain stitch, which you can pull to remove the stitching.

3. Place the sleeves with wrong side together flat on a table. Pin or tack in place. Leaving the cuff of the sleeve open, sew from below the cuff to cut part of the sleeve.

4. Lay the fabric flat on a table and measure and mark from below the cuff to the desired length of the tote. Sew across the bottom of the tote and then sew a zigzag along the same sewn line.

5. Pull each corner of the purse into a point while place the bottom seam and the side seam together. Sew a seam acoss the point approximately 2 1/2 inches wide. Zigzag along the seam and cut off the excess material This will round out the corner and give the tote a squared off bottom. Turn the tote right side out.

6. Turn under the raw edge of the cuff along a well in the ribbing of the knitting. Zigzag the cuff edge if is raveling. Push the cuff through the peanut rim making sure it is facing with the micer side out.Place the cuff approximately 1/4 inch below the cuff on the inside of the tote. Sew along the line where the ribbed cuff meets the regular knitted sleave. Sew both handles.
